GitHub Expands Copilot AI with Google and Anthropic Models, Introduces “Spark” for Low-Code App Development

GitHub is enhancing its AI-powered coding assistant, Copilot, by integrating models from Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, adding to its existing partnership with OpenAI. Initially, developers can use these models to chat and ask questions, with plans to fully integrate them into Copilot’s coding features. This expanded choice caters to developers using different cloud providers, including AWS. Additionally, GitHub unveiled “Spark,” a tool that allows users to create basic applications through natural language prompts. Spark aims to simplify app creation for novices and offers seasoned developers a flexible, low-code environment to test ideas before moving to more robust platforms.
